What does the above art installation mean?

I have asked many people this question at the Dallas Museum of Art, where this installation was displayed Sept. 30, 2018-Feb. 17, 2019, and I have received the same answer each and every time: “Nothing. It doesn’t mean anything to me.” Even if you point out to viewers that the things hanging from the ceiling at different heights are the kinds of pull-down maps…
