This raises far more problems. Who, then, get to be the arbiters of truth? “Public solutions” always mean “government solutions,” which are always top-down, and the most likely to distort the truth in their own favor. It may be comforting to have something like the Catholic Church or the national government be the proclaimers of Truth, but having a central authority declare that this or that is Truth, and anything that challenges their authority and power isn’t is a recipe for creating a Dark Age. A truth that can’t be questioned isn’t truth, but ideology — the very essence of post-truth.
